Youth who feel connected to people and institutions in their communities may be buffered from other risk factors in their lives. As a result, increasing connectedness has been recommended as a prevention strategy. In this study, we examined connectedness among youth ages 12—15 , recruited from an urban medical emergency department, who were at elevated risk due to bullying perpetration or victimization, or low social connectedness. Regression analyses examined multiple domains of connectedness family, school, peer, community in relation to adjustment. Youth who felt more connected to parents reported lower levels of depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, and conduct problems, higher self-esteem and more adaptive use of free time. Youth who felt more connected to their school reported lower levels of depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, social anxiety, and sexual activity, as well as higher levels of self-esteem and more adaptive use of free time. Community connectedness was associated with less social anxiety but more sexual activity, and peer connectedness was not related to youth adjustment in this unique sample. Findings suggest that family and school connectedness may buffer youth on a trajectory of risk, and may therefore be important potential targets for early intervention services.

Combination of consultancy, training, robotics and newly-acquired patient optimization technologies to benefit patients and healthcare providers.

Recent developments in surgical technology, anesthesia protocols and changes to Medicare reimbursement are triggering an upsurge in demand from providers to deliver orthopaedic procedures in outpatient settings, such as ASCs. In such settings, suitable patients are admitted, operated on and discharged on the same day, and receive the majority of their post-acute care at home.

The model brings advantages to both the patient and healthcare provider, including the patient recovering in the comfort of their home, the surgeon having greater control over the surgical setting and pre and post-acute care, and, for both parties, lower overhead costs. It will also offer team training for healthcare providers wanting to learn how to manage same-day total joint replacement surgery for maximum efficiency and patient satisfaction.

This includes guiding physician-owners of ASCs how to build their team including administrators, anesthesiologists and operating room staff.

The research study Positive Connections tested the Health Systems Navigation HSN model, an intervention linking near-peer interventionists with underserved HIV-infected individuals to assist them to become engaged and retained in HIV medical care through supportive services and facilitated referrals. Working with a core group of local AIDS service organizations to identify unstable and out-of-care HIV-positive individuals, the HSN will enroll and provide health system navigation to participants.

The principal goal was to enhance the probability that individuals from historically underserved populations would become engaged and retained in high quality, culturally competent HIV care. The theoretical basis for this intervention included individual behavior change models, social and community networks, and provider cultural competence.

This project also sought to improve the understanding and the measurement of health care access problems by seeking to determine which problems have indicators and which do not, and to identify steps that can be taken to develop a reliable access monitoring system. Positive Connections tested the Health Systems Navigation HSN model, an intervention linking near-peer interventionists with underserved HIV-infected individuals to assist them to become engaged and retained in HIV medical care through supportive services and facilitated referrals.

Participants were referred and recruited into the study through community based organizations that provide services to people living with HIV.

This increased profile has been, in part, a result of media-led public anxiety. It has, however, also been due to a professional recognition of the need to reduce associated risks, the distress of people with a diagnosis of personality disorder and the current inefficient use of resources. The manifestations of personality disorders, the treatability clause in the Mental Health Act, which is currently under review, and the lack of sufficient treatment facilities have meant that people with a diagnosis of personality, disorder often use several services in a chaotic way.

They present frequently and sometimes with elements of aggression directed towards themselves or others, thereby challenging the services and those working in them.

This app was created for those living with herpes that want a great service for connecting them with other people living with a similar STD. It uses some great background colors as well as some cool graphics to give it a friendly look and feel designed to make you feel of home. Getting involved in dating again after finding out you have herpes can be a scary prospect and having an app like this that make you feel comfortable is a good start.

This app is also very easy to navigate with a quick access menu icon in the top left corner that will take you to all of the apps main functions. Key Features A great feature of this app is that it allows you to send photo requests to members. You can then use these connections you make with the neighbors feature to set up events where you can meet people live in a less stressful environment with no automatic commitments.

The idea is to create an atmosphere in which other people with herpes come together in one environment where all are looking for potential connections, but they do it in a group environment in order to relieve the pressure. One final unique feature that this app includes is something called a mood setting. You can use this setting to change and express your moods throughout the day so that other members can get a feel for what your state of mind is at the time.

It is known that, for example, sintered components are subjected to relatively large dimensional fluctuations which are unavoidable in the production process and which result from shrinking during the sintering process. Similar phenomena can also be observed in the case of plastics components due both to fluctuating process conditions and also fluctuations in the injection moulding compound.

A positive connection between the above-mentioned materials or between either of them and other dimensionally more accurate components therefore requires large tolerance zones with the result that, in the worst case, an undesired, large clearance may prevail between the connected components. Similar problems occur when materials with highly differing therrnal expansion coefficients have to be positively connected, because in these cases, the dimensions of one of these components change substantially more than those of the other component.

Depending upon the material combination and ternperature fluctuation, in this case it may also be necessary to design the requisite positive connections with a greater clearance in order to prevent impermissible component stress In almost all applications, clearance is undesirable in a positive connection because this could ‘ x either adversely affect function or cause wear in parts undergoing alternating motions. The present invention is based on the technical problems of removing or at least reducing these disadvantages and creating a positive connection of the type mentioned at the beginning by means ox a special form of connection which is easy to manufacture and reliable in operation.

The economic and ecological impact of nature on humans have long been established with prevalent environmental issues such as climate change and over-exploitation of natural resources being the first to cross one’s mind. On the other hand, much less attention has been paid to the cultural and social values nature brings to humans. Even though natural wonders such as the Great Barrier Reef and the Swiss Alps have been named some of the top holiday destinations, the intangible benefits people gain from experiencing nature are still difficult to quantify, and such studies typically require resource-intensive surveys and interviews.

In order to evaluate the benefits of nature experiences more efficiently and effectively, a team of researchers from the National University of Singapore NUS turned to social media and artificial intelligence AI in a study published in Scientific Reports on 5 March Led by Associate Professor Roman Carrasco and Dr Chang Chia-chen from the Department of Biological Sciences at NUS Faculty of Science, the research team analysed over 31, photographs across countries on social media with the help of an automated image recognition technology.

The team’s analysis of the photographs uploaded on social media revealed that photographs tagged as fun, vacations and honeymoons are more likely to contain elements of nature such as plants, water and natural landscape as compared to photographs tagged daily or routines. This finding, which is consistent across different countries, provides global evidence of biophilia hypothesis — human’s innate tendency to seek connection with nature — and implies a positive association between nature and fond memories in memorable events like honeymoons.

The team also found that the amount of nature experiences in a country is linked to the life satisfaction of its residents.
